Some news tidbits from the world of NASCAR:

11 — Consecutive top-five finishes for Jeff Gordon in Cup Series races at Martinsville Speedway, site of this week’s Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500.

Except for a sixth-place finish in April 2004, Gordon has 13 top-fives, — including two wins — in his past 14 Cup races at the series’ shortest track.

Overall, Gordon has seven wins, 22 top-five finishes and 28 top-10s in 34 starts at Martinsville.

Bristol Motor Speedway released an update on Larry Pearson and Charlie Glotzbach, who were injured in the Showdown charity race Saturday.

Pearson has been released from Bristol Regional Medical Center as of late Monday afternoon. He was transported and will be admitted into Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., according to his family.

Glotzbach remains hospitalized at Bristol Regional Medical Center and is in good condition.
