KEVIN SWINDELL ON O’REILLY RACEWAY PARK

“One of the coolest victories for me was winning the USAC Midgets Night Before the 500 Race at ORP in 2007 driving for Kasey Kahne in a Curb Records sponsored car. I’ve ran a lot of laps at O’Reilly Raceway Park in the Midget Cars so I’ve got a good feel for the track and how it changes as the race progresses.   Running the No. 37 car for Baker Curb in two Nationwide races this season has been a great experience.  It’s given me good seat time with a quality team in a quality car.  It’s really a privilege to be moving over to drive the No. 43 for Baker Curb.  The number is so prestigious in NASCAR and has a history with Mike Curb.  Hopefully I’ll be able to represent the number well this weekend and come home with a decent finish.”

JOHNNY SAUTER ON O’REILLY RACEWAY PARK

“I’m looking forward to getting back in the No. 27 this weekend at ORP.  When I drove the No. 27 at ORP in 2004 we sat on the pole, led a bunch of laps and ending up finishing second.   That was actually the last time I ran the Nationwide and Truck Series at ORP the same weekend and I led a bunch of laps and finished second in the truck race as well.   Hopefully this will be another successful double-duty weekend.  To be competitive at ORP you have to have a car that turns well.  The turns are long and sweeping; the car that gets the front end pointed in the right direction first and can drive off the bottom is usually the car to beat.  It’s about getting in a good rhythm and hitting your marks lap after lap more so than busting off a few good laps by being aggressive.  The fact that I’ll be running the truck race on Friday night should give us a big advantage.  I’ll have already turned in a bunch of laps on the track and will be able to provide John Reese with some good feedback.  Both races are 200 laps so that should also help out with pit strategy and how the race plays out.”

CREW CHIEF JOHN REESE ON O’REILLY RACEWAY PARK

“We’re really excited to have Johnny Sauter in the No. 27 this weekend, his resume at ORP speaks for itself.  It is his 200th career start in the Nationwide Series and hopefully we can make it a memorable one for him.  We are taking car 82, which has been our best short-track car this year.  It has been on the track three times and has qualified and finished in the top 10 in each of those three races; including a runner-up finish at Richmond with Greg Biffle.  ORP is an exciting short track that usually provides for one of the most exciting races of the season.  There has been a lot of excitement in the Nationwide Series this season and I think you’ll see more of the same under the lights on Saturday night!”
